Professional Development at STS
St. Timothy’s faculty and staff are always looking for ways to improve their impact in the classroom. Each summer while students are taking a break from learning, teachers often choose to use a portion of their summer to pursue professional development opportunities. Thanks to the Annual Fund, St. Timothy’s can fully fund these continuing education opportunities for our teachers.
As a school, we remain committed to supporting our faculty and staff as they seek to build confidence in the classroom, to constantly improve their skills, and to stay up-to-date on the latest research-based teaching methods.
“I always want to be the best teacher that I can be, to learn new approaches, to refresh my teacher’s “toolbox,” and to serve the families at St. Timothy’s the best that I can!”
“I am better equipped to lead classes while supporting the social-emotional needs of our students. The resources and skills gained at conferences help our school become even stronger.”
“I attended the NCAIS Women’s Leadership Conference, and they discussed women in leadership roles and empowering women personally and professionally. This was a wonderful opportunity to listen and learn from successful women.”
“I attended the Institute for Teaching World Religions, Sponsored by CSEE in New York, which was four days of presentations and resource sharing amongst World Religions teachers and scholars. The most beneficial takeaway was the massive resource-sharing document and the contacts made with other teachers.”
“I attended a four-day conference on Responsive Classroom Elementary Core Workshop. The PD provided in-depth teaching strategies on how to create a safe and joyful learning community where students can thrive and learn. The program helps the students build strong social, emotional, and academic skills.”
“I attended the Neuroscience for Optimal Learning Summer Institute by Learning & the Brain in Santa Barbara. It was an intense 5-day course into how the brain functions. I learned about neurological approaches to understanding and meeting the academic, social, emotional, and executive function skills students need. I have already implemented many methods and ideas in my math classrooms and have immediately seen their impact!”
