Members of the Board of Visitors are key stakeholders and community leaders who maintain a formal and visible relationship with St. Timothy’s School, advocate for and support the school in its endeavors, and connect the school with valuable knowledge and resources in the greater community.

Mike Bailey spent 44 years in education as both teacher and administrator. For 16 of those years, he was Headmaster of St. Timothy’s School. During his tenure, the school embarked upon its largest capital campaign, one that dramatically changed the face of the campus. After retiring from St. Timothy’s, Mike was recruited by Cardinal Gibbons High School to teach mathematics; he taught for three years until his second retirement in June of 2015. His sons, Lenny and Dylan, are STS alumni.

Copie Cain has been actively engaged at St. Timothy’s since her first child enrolled in 2000. She has held many roles, including parent co-chair of the last capital campaign, as well as individual roles. Copie was an integral part of Friends of St. Timothy’s and served as president during the school’s 50th anniversary in 2008. She was instrumental in the development and deployment of the redesigned website that integrated the school’s database to facilitate communications. She currently works as a finance executive for a local laboratory. Copie is married to STS Board of Trustees member Jim Cain, and they are the parents of two STS alumni, Mary Copeland and Quentin.

Dr. Mary Susan Fulghum, the first female OB-GYN resident at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, went on to have a long, storied medical career in Raleigh. Now retired, she is well known throughout the community for her tremendous philanthropic efforts. She currently sits on the Board of the North Carolina Symphony. Mary Susan’s two daughters, Molly and Emily, are STS alumnae; her granddaughter, Margaret, is a student at the school.

Noah Huffstetler is the managing partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough’s Raleigh office and chair of the firm’s Healthcare Practice Group.  He is a Morehead Scholar, a Phi Beta Kappa, and the recipient of numerous awards of distinction throughout his professional career. Noah is a former member of the St. Timothy’s School Board of Directors. His son, Noah, is an alumnus of the school.

The Rev. Greg Jones is the rector of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Raleigh.  He is a published author, active musician and father of three. Greg’s 2004 book, Beyond Da Vinci, offers a scholarly analysis of the novel, The Da Vinci Code.  He has written numerous articles for the Los Angeles Times, Raleigh News & Observer, the Anglican Theological Review, and is a regular contributor at the Episcopal Café. 

Helen Kirven works in marketing development at Coastal AgroBusiness. She has been an active Christ Church and civic volunteer for many years, most recently signing on as a life skills class co-partner for Step Up Ministry. A former member of the St. Timothy’s School Board of Directors, Helen is active at Woodberry Forest School where her sons McPhail, Caid and John enrolled after graduating from St. Timothy’s School.

Lyn Maness has worked professionally and as a volunteer in fundraising, event planning and volunteer management for over 25 years. Her career includes independent schools, human service organizations, and cultural institutions, where she has coordinated annual fund, capital, and membership campaigns along with a myriad of fundraising events. Lyn has recruited, trained, managed and rewarded many dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers in her work with the former St. Timothy’s Middle-Hale High School, Saint Mary’s School, Ravenscroft School, the North Carolina Museum of History Associates, Urban Ministries of Wake County, and StepUp Ministry. She currently serves on the board of the Foundation of Hope and is a member of the Raleigh Rotary Club. 

Clarke Mansfield joined the St. Timothy’s School family as a student in 1991. He graduated from Hale High School in 2001 and earned a B.A. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. Upon graduation, he began a career with Insight Global LLC, a staffing services company focusing on IT, accounting, finance, engineering, and government positions. Over the past 10 years he has served as Sales Manager, National Account Manager and Managed Services Program Lead in both the Raleigh and Washington, DC areas.

Todd Matthews attended St. Timothy’s and Hale High School from fourth grade through graduation in 2001. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MBA from Kenan-Flagler School of Business at UNC-CH. For the past three years, Todd has been a Director of Clinical Development at QuintilesIMS in RTP. The Matthews are members of White Memorial Presbyterian Church, where they teach Sunday School.

Mark McKeown has been a longtime supporter of St. Timothy’s School and Church. A lifelong Episcopalian and Raleigh native, he returned to the area in 1990. He has served on the Church Vestry for more than 15 years – 10 as Senior Warden – and continues to serve on the Finance Committee and the St. Timothy’s Scholarship Committee. He served on the St. Timothy’s Board of Trustees for two years prior to and during the decision to add a middle school and the capital campaign to support it.  Mark’s wife Susan is the founder of an educational consulting and college preparation company. Their three children are STS alumni:  Bobby (2001) and Taylor and Haley (2009). Professionally, Mark is involved in sales and sales management of technology and consulting solutions for the healthcare industry nationwide.

Kip Meadows is the founder and acting chairman of Nottingham Investment Group. He has served on the Duke University Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee since 1990, and served on the Association’s Board of Directors from 2003-2007. An Eagle Scout, he currently serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster to Troop 357 in Raleigh. Kip’s sons, Frank and Alston, are St. Timothy’s alumni.

Dr. Richard (Dick) Rendleman is a Professor Emeritus of Finance at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC-CH. He is noted for his work in derivative securities markets, debt markets, stock price reactions to corporate earnings surprises and the statistical properties of PGA Tour golf scores. He is a prolific contributor to financial journals and the author of Applied Derivatives: Options Futures and Swaps. He has served as a visiting professor at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College as well as the Helsinki (Finland) School of Economics. In addition to his work in finance, he is a composer of classical music for orchestra, piano and chorus. Dick and his wife Nancy are parents to two adult children, Elizabeth and Eddie, both STS alumni.

Gaile Renegar, a pharmacist-attorney, is a scientist member of Duke University Health System’s Institutional Review Board, which ensures the protection of human research participants by conducting scientific and ethical reviews of research studies. She served a lengthy tenure with multinational pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline in Legal, Research & Development and Corporate functions. Gaile is the mother of two St. Timothy’s alumni, Brian and Patrick.

Debbie Robbins is a long-time community volunteer, lending her efforts to the Visual Art Exchange, Carolina Ballet, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Urban Ministries, BackPack Buddies and United Arts Council. Her four children – Zach, Bryan, Lauren and Cameron – are St. Timothy’s alumni. Since becoming an empty nester, Debbie has opened a studio and begun painting, donating her works in support of many charitable organizations.

Ann Robinson began her professional career in commercial real estate in 1979 and has been successfully selling residential real estate in the Triangle for the past 14 years. In 2010, she was recognized by the News & Observer as one of the top three agents in the Cary/Morrisville area.  In addition to her family, career and church, Ann has been involved in many organizations, including Junior League of Raleigh, National Charity League and Phi Mu. Her children, Craig and Grace, are St. Timothy’s School alumni. 

Marcia Russell is the daughter of the Rev. George and Carolyn Hale, founders of St. Timothy’s School. She is a retired board certified clinical cytogeneticist who earned both her M.A. and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University where she also did postdoctoral work. While now living in Winston-Salem, she has been active in the community through the Junior League and by serving on different boards, including Amos Cottage Board and two terms as president for Horizons Residential Care Center. Marcia and her husband Wilson served on the Parents’ Council at St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH. They have two adult children and one grandson. 

Blair Wall Smallman is a 1977 graduate of Hale High School and a 1981 graduate of North Carolina State University. For 25 years, she has been a member of the NCSU Wolfpack Club Representative Program. She has served on the Board of Directors of a host of local agencies, including 15 years with the Junior League of Raleigh, 10 years with Safechild, six years with the NC Museum of History Young Associates, and three years with the Raleigh Hall of Fame. For the past five years, she has worked in development for The Foundation of Hope for Research and Treatment of Mental Illness. Blair and her husband Steve have one daughter, Angel, an alumna of St Timothy’s.

Kirk Whorf serves as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of North State Bank. He has served as CFO since the bank’s founding in 2000. Kirk has a long and distinguished career in the banking industry. He is a Certified Public Accountant and completed the Graduate School of Banking program at Louisiana State University. He is an instructor for the North Carolina School of Banking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kirk’s daughter, Courtney, is an STS alumna.

Rob Wilson is CEO and President of C1 Marketing Group, a public relations/marketing firm servicing athletes and entertainment personalities that he founded in 2013. In addition, he is owner/operator of a DJ service that is still going after 16 years! An STS alumnus, Rob has earned three degrees since graduating from Hale High School in 2002: B.A. in English, B.A. in Art History, and Masters of Art in Teaching. Rob and his fiancée met while working as after school care counselors at the St. Timothy’s.

Dr. Henry Zaytoun, Jr. is a partner in the orthodontic practice founded by his father, Dr. Henry Zaytoun, Sr., in 1960. He earned a B.A. in History, an M.S. in Orthodontics, and Doctorate in Dental Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Zaytoun currently serves on the boards of Safe Child, Poe Center for Health Education, Montessori School of Raleigh, UNC-Wilmington Board of Visitors, and Our Lady of Lourdes. He is a past president of the Dental Foundation of North Carolina, UNC Orthodontic Alumni Association, North Carolina Association of Orthodontists and Southern Association of Orthodontists.
